Introduction to Silkscreen Printmaking: The Art of the Stencil
What to Expect:
Students will experiment with improvisational cut paper screen-printing techniques and learn how to expose images onto the screen using photo-emulsion and a light source. You'll also create multiple prints on both paper and fabric, honing your skills in layering colors and textures. No prior experience is required—just bring your creativity and enthusiasm for learning this dynamic printmaking process!
Location: Modern Art Museum (MOMA) in Kuwait City
In this class, participants will explore the fundamentals of silkscreen printmaking, also known as the “art of the stencil.” Through detailed instruction and demonstrations, students will learn how to hand-print one or more colors onto a matrix using an exposed stencil supported by a porous fabric stretched over a metal frame.
